Members Michael Flores and Gary Steindorf stayed calm under pressure and got a McMinnville man to safety. "I am very proud of the brave actions of our McMinnville members," said 9th District Vice President Ray Rahne.

McMinnville Fire District faces budget pressure from rising fuel costs

Chief Reed Godfrey says a fuel bill that's normally $7,000-$8,000 a month hit $11,000 last month. The district typically budgets about $100,000 a year for fuel — this year it's planning for just under $150,000. "We don't have a lot of wiggle room in our budgets," Godfrey said.
